After using the new website for a while, I’ve grown unfond of a few features that we have now. Keep in mind that this article is of my personal opinion only, is not created to be offensive, and is not intended to bash Karl. I love v1.2; I’m simply pointing out what I could live without. I'm mainly just being picky.
1. The new Profile layout
-I liked the old one better. After using the new profile system for a while, I’ve realized how much I miss the “Online _ hours/days/weeks ago” feature.
-I dislike the lines. They were fine at first, but no that I’ve expanded my profile a tiny bit, I no longer like them. They look too junky because they stretch across the entire page whereas the wolf image and information is in a much smaller area.
-The new color codes. I can no longer put rainbow fades on my profile because the new code is “hex” and not “color”. I am unsure why we needed that change; it’s just more to confuse new members. Perhaps it had something to do with the coding? If we didn’t need it, though, I would have preferred the old color system over the new one. Again, just much easier for the community in general

2. Too much Mate information!
-Really, I don’t think that Sheri cares how many PvP losses I have, nor do I care how many she has. Sure, it’s great to know how my mate does on the Map, but that information doesn’t benefit my gameplay. At least is makes the Mate page look like it has more information. xD
3. The Forums
-Just unleashing my OCD side here, but they’re in the wrong order. Roleplay goes before packs, and the Biography section goes before all of the Roleplay categories. “Your Pack” should be under “Packs”.
-”Art Thread” should be “Art Board”.
-The rules haven’t been added yet. This is mostly a bother in the RP sections, because Jekyll and I have been enforcing rules that don’t technically exist. Hopefully Karl will move those over soon.
As you can see, most of my problems deal with my annoying OCD side. All in all, WH v.1.2 is much better than v1.1 was. Keep up the hard work, Karl! Thank-you very much.
Mmm, the new post limit is a real pain as well. No clue as to why it was added, I'm unsure as to what it prevents. Curious how the few advanced role-plays we have will work. Not to mention the longer character biographies.
ReplyDeleteI'm patiently awaiting the pack features to come back up. I miss all the pretty layouts around the site.
Anyway, back to blog stalking.
Based on some messing around with the new color codes, they're supposed to make sure people can't CSS hack them and create a layout with mutated color tags.

I also hate not being able to see who posted last on a thread....
